Space-planning solutions
The public centre building has 5 storeys and a square floor plan. On the ground floor there are the lobbies, the community centre and a café. The basement level (–1) contains staff rooms, changing rooms and technical rooms. The upper floors accommodate administrative and office spaces. The roof accommodates a terrace with a lounge area, enclosed by parapets formed by the façade continuation. There are also technical rooms and technical zones for engineering equipment and solar panels.
Façade
The entire ground floor is recessed relative to the main façade plane. The ground floor has maximum glazing without solid piers, with regularly spaced metal slats in front. The south-west and south-east façades have a toothed pattern as a response to the serrated plasticity of the opposite building’s façade; this also made it possible to orient the solar panels on the façades strictly to the south. On these two façades there are two types of balconies: decorative planters for greenery and French balconies. On the blind south-facing wall sections solar panels are installed. The façade is clad in weathering steel (COR-TEN). The north-west and north-east façades have a regular grid articulated with slats, alternating aluminium façade slats and glazing.
