Interior design of a two-storey apartment in Belgrade

Typology: Interior
Location: Belgrade
Design: Piglova Architects
Author: Marina Piglova — Creative Director, Project Architect
Area: 78 m²
Project stages: concept and technical design, turnkey implementation
Design year: 2025

Apartment in “Scandi-pop” style

The apartment is located on the two top floors of the building. The lower level is more traditional, while the upper level is attic-style.
On the lower floor there is the kitchen, living–dining area, entrance hall, bathroom and a small workspace. A staircase leads to the upper floor — here there are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a hall, as well as access to a small terrace.
All walls are painted white, and only selected areas are highlighted with colour — pastel tones combined with bright, juicy accents.

Space-planning solutions

One of the most challenging tasks was to place all the necessary zones on the main (lower) floor within a limited footprint: a lounge area, a dining area that had to be located next to the kitchen, and sufficient storage.

Bathroom on the upper floor

Despite the somewhat tricky original layout, the upper-floor bathroom is very comfortable, and the shower has a dedicated bench/seating area.

Bathroom on the lower floor

The bathroom on the lower level, though compact in function, still provides enough storage — a cabinet behind the mirror and a spacious vanity unit.

Bedrooms

The apartment has two bedrooms, both located on the upper floor. Each bedroom has a complex ceiling geometry, but we still managed to make the spaces as functional as possible.
